Who runs this site

niellim.com is run by Niel Lim, a sole trader based in Cebu, Philippines. I am the person who decides what happens to any personal data this site collects, and I am the person you deal with if you want it changed or removed.

You can reach me at niel@niellim.com. There is no support desk and no third party handling enquiries on my behalf.

What this site collects

There are two ways this site collects anything about you.

When you use the contact form

Your name, which is required, so I know who I am replying to

Your email address, which is required, because it is how I reply

Your message, which is optional, and only what you choose to type

Submissions are emailed to me and stored in the site database. Nothing in the form is passed to an advertiser, and nothing is sold.

When you simply read a page

Your IP address, browser and operating system, in the standard web server logs kept by my host

Which pages you opened, and when

This is the ordinary record every web server keeps. There is no analytics package and no visitor-tracking script running on this site.

Section 03

Cookies, and what sets them

This site sets a small number of cookies. None of them are for advertising.

A consent cookie that remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner, so you are not asked again on every page

A caching cookie set by the site performance layer, so pages load faster on a repeat visit

A short-lived anti-spam token on the contact form, which is how the form tells a person from a bot

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link in the banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Blocking them will not stop the site working, though the banner will ask again on your next visit.

Section 04

Who else handles your data

I do not sell your data and I do not share it for marketing. A small number of services necessarily handle it because they are what runs the site.

Hostinger, my web host, which stores the site files, the database and the server logs

My email provider, which receives the contact form notification and holds our correspondence afterwards

Google Fonts, which serves the typeface this site is set in. Loading it passes your IP address to Google.

That is the complete list. If it changes, this page changes with it.

Section 05

How long anything is kept

Contact form enquiries are kept while we are talking, and for up to twelve months afterwards in case you come back. Deleted sooner if you ask.

Correspondence that turned into paid work is kept for as long as I need it for tax and accounting records.

Server logs are held by my host on their own short rolling schedule, typically a few weeks.

Section 06

What you can ask me to do

Whatever jurisdiction you are in, the practical position here is the same. It is my inbox and my database, and I will do what you ask.

Ask what I hold about you, and I will tell you

Ask me to correct something that is wrong

Ask me to delete it, and I will, unless I am required to keep it for tax records

Ask for a copy of what you sent me

Email niel@niellim.com. You do not need to give a reason and there is no form to fill in. I reply within one business day.

Section 07

Changes to this policy

If what the site collects changes, I will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no mailing list to notify you, so the date is the thing to check.
